Frequently Asked Pediatric Dentistry Questions

Click on each question below to reveal the answer to some of our most popular inquiries. Have a question you don’t see on this page? Don’t hesitate to reach out to our Midland dnetla office! We’re always happy to help.

Are “baby” teeth really that important?

Yes! Primary (“baby”) teeth are an essential part of your child’s healthy development, helping them learn how to speak clearly and chew food. They also provide a placeholder and a path that the developing permanent tooth takes advantage of once it’s ready to emerge from the gums.

How can I get my child ready for their first dental appointment?

At Midland Kid’s Dentist, our best advice for you is: stay positive! Children are much more perceptive than we think they are, and if you’re feeling apprehensive or nervous about their upcoming appointment, they’re likely to start feeling those emotions as well. Talk to your child about why visiting the dentist is important, and look through our about us page and dental office tour together to familiarize them with our space. We can’t wait to help them have a great visit!

How can I help my child prevent cavities?

Make sure that your child brushes their teeth twice a day with fluoridated toothpaste and flosses at once per day. Limit their exposure to overly sugary drinks and foods, and be sure to schedule a checkup and cleaning for them every six months at our Midland, TX location!

My child becomes very nervous and agitated around doctors. Will they be able to receive care safely?

Of course. Dr. Vuppala and Dr. Youngblood offer several sedation dentistry services (including nitrous oxide, oral sedation, and hospital-based anesthesiology) that work wonders in lessening negative emotions and creating a much calmer, more relaxed environment for pediatric care.

Do you take my insurance?

We welcome most PPO insurance plans and Medicaid, and our team will be happy to work with you in order to maximize the available benefits. To learn more about your financial options here at Midland Kid’s Dentist, please visit our new patients page or give us a call.
